Why Shouldn’t You Go for Xaomi Pocofone F1
Hello friends, hope you’re having fun around and exploring new technologies implemented in our life. Well I was wondering about some of these and was continuously thinking about one of the recently launched smartphone Pocofone F1 under Xiaomi banner. The phone really stirred the mid-budget market after its launch when it crossed 200 Crore INR within 5 minutes on August 29. But the question appears after every smartphone launch. Should we go for it or go for any other? Well I found something which really shocked and after knowing it most of the people will change their minds. You should really not go for Xiaomi Pocofone F1 if you really love watching HD video online on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu and many more.
Xiaomi Pocofone F1 Specification:
Before moving further, let’s first discuss about key specifications of Xiaomi Pocofone F1. This phone really is powerful those as it comes with upto 8GB RAM & 256GB storage alongside fastest Snapdragon 845 processor. The design is very similar to previously launched Redmi Note 5 Pro. Below are some more details about the first smartphone under Xiaomi Sub-brand:

Lacks Widevine Support:
This first model of Pocofone doesn’t play HD content online and the reason behind this is simple, Xiaomi Pocofone F1 doesn’t have Widevine L1 support to decrypt digital media. Widevine is Digital Right Management (DRM) which is necessary for streaming HD videos. And Pocofone F1 comes with Widevine DRM L3 instead of Widevine L1. You can stream videos online and watch your favourite shows too but you guys may disappoint when you won’t be able to play HD content. Any smartphone streaming HD videos online must have Widevine L1.
What can you do to avoid it?
Well, this issue isn’t a software bug which can be resolved in updates. Actually, it is a hardware problem which will fix only after changing the hardware. The same issue was noticed in Oneplus 5 /5T, after that the Chinese giant was forced to recall all devices to provide patch through service centres. After opening your phone for the first time, you will see Netflix pre-installed but you won’t be able to play any content beyond resolution limit of 540p. The saddest part is that you won’t be able to play such content on any online streaming service like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and many more.
Suggestion / Alternative To Xiaomi Pocofone F1
I suggest you guys to either wait for new manufacturing if the device get the patch or go for other device which will play on more resolutions. Xiaomi really played a game after launching powerful smartphone with Snapdragon 845 processor equipped with 8GB RAM. But I don’t think any phone deserve 29k INR if you’re not able to play HD content.
